A little history about our haunt
The House of Shadows is a haunted house that is put on to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Sparta Wisconsin. The haunt began in 1998 as a free haunt, set up in the original B&G club building, and was ran by the kids that attended the club.
After three years of growing interest, community involvement, and a party willing to donate a building to host a haunt, the B&G club officially began what would soon become its top fund raising event.
The haunt was given its name and construction soon began in its new home.
The building used to this day was once the Infirmary for the Wisconsin State Child Center located on Osborne Drive in Sparta WI. The school had its own cemetery where rests over 300 young children that passed while attending the school during its operational years of 1886 to 1976. And YES the cemetery is still there. At this date only a small handful of buildings once part of the school still stand. Many of the buildings that were taken down once stood where Sparta currently holds its city festival (Butter Fest).
The building we use has given many of its guests some quite amazing stories of unexplained activity over the past several decades. There's been numerous paranormal investigations done throughout the years. I've personally witnessed two investigations. I'll honestly say they were rather interesting. The second investigation done by Western Wisconsin Paranormal Investigators (WWPI) resulted in several evp recordings which definitely lets us know we are never really alone in the house.
Our Building has been featured in several haunted places books including: Haunted Sparta.
To this day, for just a few dollars a ticket, The House of Shadows has been scaring the heck out of the ones brave enough to experience it. With a tour of up to three levels lasting around 20-25 minutes, your sure to enjoy your time spent at the House of Shadows.
